President

Presides over meetings of:
The Executive Committee
The Representative Council
The General Membership
Appoints the chairperson and members of all committees
Signs checks
Represents the association before the public either personally or through delegates
Ex-officio member of all committees
Appoints Committee Members to the Executive Board
Attends at least one (1) training session offered by NJEA at Somerset County Education Association workshops, Summer Leadership, Winter, or other local training opportunities.
Attends all Executive Committee meetings and job related meetings
Shall perform any other duties relative to the position of President

Vice-President

Works closely with the Building Association Representatives (ARs), the Member Rights Chairperson, The Membership Chairperson, as well as one or more standing committees as the President may suggest.
Represents members in disciplinary/investigatory meetings
Meets with Building Association Representatives(ARs) at least once monthly
Conducts Level 1 Grievance meetings with members and administrators as per the contract
Serves on the Grievance Committee
Communicates building level needs in a timely manner
Addresses concerns and/or shares ideas to the Executive Committee for discussion
Attends at least one (1) training session offered by NJEA at Somerset County Education Association workshops, Summer Leadership, Winter Leadership, or other local training opportunities.
Keeps minutes for Representative Council Meetings
Attends all Executive Committee meetings and job related meetings
Shall perform any other duties relative to the position of Vice President

Secretary

Keeps accurate minutes including attendance of all meetings of the Executive  Committee and General Membership meetings
Prepares such minutes for reproduction and distribution within fourteen (14) calendar days of each such meeting
Maintains official files
Assists the President with Association correspondence
Notifies members and ARs of meetings
Keeps an accurate record of all members with the Membership Chair
Co-signs payroll/reimbursement checks to President and Treasurer
Attends all Executive Committee meetings and job related meetings
Shall perform any other duties relative to the position of Secretary

Treasurer

Holds the funds of the Association
Disburses funds accordingly upon submission of vouchers approved by the President
Signs checks along with the President/Secretary
Reports at each meeting of the Executive Committee, the Representative Council (given by VPs to ARs), and General Membership
Informs President and Executive Board of the financial  condition of the Association
Prepares an annual financial statement which shall be  distributed to all members with a copy forwarded to NJEA
Completes the annual LAFAP report and ensures its submission
Proposes a budget for the Executive Committee
Files the appropriate Federal and State forms
Works with committees on expenditures for association-related activities
Collects due in conjunction with Membership Chairperson of the Association
Attends at least one (1) training session offered by NJEA at Somerset County Education Association workshops, Summer Leadership, Winter Leadership, or other local training opportunities
Attends all Executive Committee meetings and job related meetings
Shall perform any other duties relative to the position of Treasurer

Member Rights Chairperson

Works closely with the Grievance Committee to assist with coordinating efforts with Building Vice Presidents on possible
grievance issues
leaves of absence advice
rebuttals/responses to evaluations and/or disciplinary issues

assists with coordinating training for leadership and/or members on advocacy issues
Chairs the Grievance Committee and handles grievances from Level 2 through arbitration
Attend at least one (1) training session offered by NJEA at Somerset County Education Association workshops, Summer Leadership, Winter Leadership, or other local training opportunities
Attend all Executive Committee meetings and job related meetings
Shall perform any other duties relative to the position of Member Rights
Membership Committee

Organizes and conducts membership enrollment/re-enrollment
Communicates with members about programs, services, and benefits of Association membership.
Submits to NJEA the necessary paperwork (NJEA Payroll Deduction Form and Potential Membership Form)
Keeps NJEA’s MARs database updated with accurate information
Retrieves and reconciles the latest WDEA, Workplace Democracy Enhancement Act, excel spreadsheet every one hundred and twenty (120) days,
Informs the Executive Committee of any identified trends of membership drops and/or increases
Facilitates and makes recommendations on membership recruitment (see trends) and retention activities (Social activities)
Keeps up Social Media (Member events)
Attends at least one (1) training session offered by NJEA at Somerset County Education Association workshops, Summer Leadership, Winter Leadership, or other local training opportunities
Attends all Executive Committee meetings and job related meetings
Shall perform any other duties relative to the position of Membership

Community Engagement Committee

Informs and also organizes general membership of the Association in engagement activities through appropriate forms of media, i.e printed form, digital form, and other means of communications (community events)
Develops a positive community presence through the use of
Social media (community events)
Creation of community events
Working with other Unions
PTA
Other community groups and organizations
Submits and handles all paperwork around PRIDE activities
Communicates engagement activities to Executive Committee
Attends at least one (1) training session offered by NJEA at Somerset County Education Association workshops, Summer Leadership, Winter Leadership, or other local training opportunities
Attends all Executive Committee meetings and job related meetings
Shall perform any other duties relative to the position of Community Engagement
